The magnificent state of Texas possesses a vibrant and very important history and citizens of this popular state oftentimes would want to further look into Texas memories to unearth more knowledge about them. Texas is very rich in history which makes its residents curious about its past. On the other hand, doing research on family origins can often be more challenging than it would appear at first glance. To guide Texans in their complex search, Texas family history centers have emerged across the state. These popular centers supply you with a wealth of search possibilities, such as microfilms, printed documents and computer system technology. A professionally trained staff of volunteers are readily available to respond to your inquiries and support visitors on how to make use of the information effectively and efficiently. These remarkable centers are managed by the Texas LDS Family Search, yet are also offered to the Texas general public.

Texas Genealogy Resources

Texas possesses a vibrant history starting off with some of them are the Mexican control, French claims, Spanish settlement, the Republic of Texas and then statehood – possibly one of the “wilder” state historical facts. With such an abundance of history, comes with so many data and information, both of these are stored a lot of these then misplaced as a result of storms and courthouse fire incidents. In addition, a burned up county is merely a valid excuse to check the historical records maintained by the federal government, state and its neighboring counties.

Some great Texas specific genealogy resources that you definitely want to check out are:

1.The Handbook of Texas Online – no matter what or where you are researching in Texas, your search always takes you to this extensive online compendium of all that is Texas! Also check out Texas Heritage Online.

2. Texas State Library and Archives Commission’s online presence includes databases of Confederate Pension Applications and other Civil War era records, Republic Claims, Maps and more, though, don’t forget to visit in person for research in the records of select TX counties.

3. With records in TX being a bit more dispersed than in other states, the Texas Archival Resources Online (TARO) database is a great tool to find out what records are held in what repository.

4. One associates TX with land, lots of land and if your ancestors were like many, they moved to the state and planned to acquire land. Check out the Land Grant Database and other land-related resources via The History & Archives section of the Texas General Land Office.
